Seiko Watches: Quality Japanese Timepieces

The Japanese are to be commended for the excellent quality of their products. They are known for making watches that are very well made. The company offers a variety of style options from the very casual to very formal. They also sell heart rate monitor watches plus what is known as ‘coutura’ watches. There are a wide range of price options.

One of the best known Japanese makers of watches is Seiko Corporation. The company, Seiko originated in 1881 when a business man named Hattori opened a jewelry shop in Japan. He started making clocks and named them Seikosha. The name was soon abbreviated to Seiko. In the early 1920’s, the company began selling watches to the public.

The Seiko company manufactured the first quartz watch in the mid 1960’s. The first Seiko watch introduced was very, very expensive and would have been comparable to the cost of a car.

The watches are known for quality craftsmanship and advanced technology. Unlike other companies, all Seiko watches are made in one place. Some companies use watch parts from several different companies. All of the components including the luminous compounds and dials are made by Seiko.

The company makes watches that range from mechanical to quartz. The price of a Seiko watch starts at, $50 to $100,000, because they have watches for every price range. Seiko watches are known as being well made, durable and long lasting.

The kinetic watches are their most popular selling brand. The watches are known to be very accurate. Also, the watch does not need a battery because is powered by the wearer.

Because of their accuracy, Seiko watches are used as an official timekeeper for many sporting events. Some of these events included the Olympic Games and World Cups.

However, some collectors are not fond of Seiko. The company does limit some of their product lines to certain parts of the world. The company releases some products to Asia that are not released to the United States. However, the internet makes it possible to obtain products from all over the world.

Seiko is working towards improving and updating watch technology. In 2005, they introduced their new Spring Drive. The new technology helps improve the lasting power of the watch. In conjunction with this technology, the company also developed a new alloy called Spron 510.

The movements are now electronic which means they are much more accurate. The movements are regulated by electrical power from an oscillator. Seiko is constantly working to improve their product line. If you are interested in buying a Seiko watch, be assured that the quality is excellent and Seiko watches are well worth the price.
